In response to the call of the generous people in providing assistance and other forms of socio-economic relief to the learners in most need due to the ill-effects of the pandemic, the DASNHS Faculty and Employees Association headed by Mr. Simeon G. Zamoranos Jr, the Association’s President initiated a School Pantry which is dubbed as “Tulong Mo, Pag-asa Ko” through the inspiration drawn from the community pantries from the different parts of the country.
To ensure that the event will aim a target, the following objectives were set:
- Provide assistance to the learner whose family is experiencing financial difficulty due to the work stoppage of parents brought about by the pandemic.
- Instill and rekindle the spirit of Bayanihan as a manifestation of our love and concern to our fellow Filipinos in these trying and difficult times.
- Inspire others of the value of volunteerism as an act of helping others in most need without asking anything in return.
- Sustain the mission entrusted to everyone by becoming a steward of one another by sharing the blessing each has endowed.
Prior to this activity, the Officers convened and planned together on the manner on how this activity will be fruitfully realized. They posted an announcement on the DASNHS FB Group to seek the support and solicit a monetary and in-kind donations to the generous donors and benefactors. The Organizer was so overwhelmed because of the positive response of the individuals whose willingness to be of help are very much evident. The Class Advisers were also requested to choose 1 recipient from the Class following the criterion that the family is mostly affected by the pandemic because of the stoppage of work of parents due to business closure.
The distribution of the individual packs of groceries was held last May 26, 2021 (Wednesday) from 8:00 AM- 2:00 in the afternoon at the DASNHS Quadrangle. Faculty and Employees Club Officers and other Teacher-Volunteers were present in the activity. The parent/ guardian of the student-recipients received the packed groceries in behalf of the students as they are not still allowed to go out in observance of the health protocols set by the IATF. A total of 70 learners benefited the program. No monetary amount can equate by seeing the happy faces and a feeling of being blessed of the parents who received the pack of prime commodities.
This spirit of Bayanihan is truly alive and a proven and tested identity among us Filipinos. We work together to help the underprivileged people in our community without asking anything in return. We do not want that there are families who will be left behind most specially that we are in the hardest time in our history. This event will never be possible without the all-out support extended by Mrs. Alma M. Zamoranos, Head Teacher III, AP Department/ OIC, Head Teachers, Class Advisers, Faculty Club Officers and the generous donors and benefactors. Time and again, we have proven the adage popularized by Winston Churchill and it says, “ We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” We are all blessed in so many ways with this, let us not cease on becoming a blessing to everyone. ( Simeon G. Zamoranos Jr.)
